Debut album, 2011
Finding Stars brings together three styles of Oliver Sadie's musical vision in one album. It is arranged to be heard in one sitting but will have you returning for more. With live piano improvisation at the core of most works, the album showcases over twenty years of experience in classical and jazz styles. Born in South Africa, Oliver Sadie is a London-based pianist, composer and music producer.
Ochre Threads opens the Soundtracks section, a soft-mannered beginning of a series of pieces written for, or inspired by, visual content. Battles Lost, Wars Won quickly ups the pace and sets a dramatic scene for the pieces which follow. The Piano Solo Improvisation section opens with the album's namesake: Finding Stars, like the three that follow, is a live recorded piano improvisation with a lot of heart. Part III explores a more electronic soundscape with a series of pieces incorporating a synthetic tapestry of sounds wrapping core piano works. An electronic piano version of Ochre Threads completes the circle and rounds off the album to a touching end.
Finding Stars promises to give you something new and enchanting, to think about, and to love.
